The second series, the H2, features a redesigned movement that encloses the bellows as well as the antennae, cam and piston systems, but also exposes all these components through a completely open front and back, all housed in the same 48.8mm case within dimensions.The makers at Renaud & Papi moved the bellows from a vertical position at the base of the case to the 6 o’clock position, but in a V-shape, like a car or aircraft engine. This new design optimizes the way the movement integrates with the fluids, partially explaining why the H2 offers a longer power reserve (8 days) than the H1 (65 hours).
Renaud & Papi added an HNR crown position indicator at 3 o’clock, intended to be reminiscent of a racing gear lever, but also one that may remind collectors of designs Renaud & Papi has designed for several high-end Audemars Piguet concept watches. Device-like indicator. The letters indicate the crown functions: hour (H), neutral (N) and winding (R).
The HNR indicator is balanced by HYT’s exclusive temperature pointer. To eliminate the effects of heat and cold on fluid position, this heat indicator shows whether the watch is in the optimal temperature segment to handle. The H2’s minute hand is noticeably different from the more traditional dial-style H1 minute hand. At H2, the hands will jump over the bellows, echoing the retrograde «jump» of the hand fluid at 6 p.m.
